Artist's Comments

I drew this picture for many reasons. One was that it had great lighting that I wanted to tackle because I haven't done anything like that before. Two is because it's a contest entry. Three is that I loved the expression. To me it seems to be a bittersweet expression and I wanted to reproduce it.

It's quite grainy because my scanner is lousy and I drew it on really grainy paper. That's why the hair isn't really up to scratch because the surface was too rough to get much detail in. But I'm pleased with it. :)

Beautiful! The grainy-ness is actually a really neat effect for it : ) makes it look like an old photo, blown up. Guh gorgeous job on the shading : D

I love the way the light on her face falls with the shadows from the hair in front.

I think that maybe there could be a bit more contrast on her skin? (Neck area, mostly, maybe a little on the face)
